    Come worship with us!
St. Michael's Church, Sunday, February 8, 2009

The Ukrainian Catholic Church is part of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, living today the ancient mystical tradition of Byzantine Eastern Catholicism, a powerful conduit of God's grace and blessings.  We are a bridge of faith, with a hand outstretched in love and friendship to our Eastern Orthodox Christian brothers and sisters, and a hand clasped in unity and prayer with the Vicar of Christ, the Successor of Saint Peter, the the Bishop of Rome, our Holy Father,
Pope Benedict XVI.

Give praise and thanksgiving to Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God!

Our parish was founded in 1949 by Ukrainian immigrants and Americans of Ukrainian descent, and we are blessed to have members of those families with us today.  Ukrainian culture gives richness, warmth, and beauty to our worship and our tradition.

Between the years of 1946 and 1991, most of our bishops, priests, and religious of Ukraine were either killed by the Communists, or suffered long prison terms. Those who were not killed were forced to practice their Catholic faith in hiding.

Most of our liturgy is now in English but we still retain some of the Ukrainian language in a few parts of our liturgy.  But you don't need to speak Ukrainian or be of Ukrainian heritage to join us - as a parishioner or as a guest.  All are welcomed with open arms!

Yet, our most fundamental heritage transcends ethnic origins:  we are sons and daughters of God.  We are heirs to The Apostolic Tradition, members of the Church founded by Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that which was entrusted to Saint Peter and his successors, guaranteed by Our Lord that "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
